I am currently in the job market and have been putting out applications each day….my question is sometimes I get emails for positions saying that I have not been selected for this position. This is usually from the Human Resources Department. I was wondering if this email is sent to me because someone had actually narrowed down my resume and didnt find me as a suitable candidate or was it a MASS EMAIL…id rather have someone atleast look at my resume and then reject then a mass email….any inside? Thanx!!!

Both - it depends on the timeline that you get the email
Most online systems have basic qualification reviews - such as do you high school diploma = yes/no — if you don’t have a hs diploma and it’s a requirement for the position, the system may be setup to immediately send you a “thank you, not interested letter”.
Beyond that it depends on the job, the company, and the system they are using to determine if you are actually screened or not.
Some systems have a ranking component that based on your resume it ranks you how closely you meet the requirements of the job — it there are 2000 candidates and you are ranked at 15% = someone may never look at your resume. But if there are only 5 candidates they may look
Where as some companies requires every candidate that makes it through the initial qualification to at least be LOOKED at.
Good luck!
