Is John McCain a septuagenarian Richie Rich?

John and Cindy McCain own a plethora of houses spread throughout the United States, including: two beachfront condos in Coronado, California, condo in La Jolla, California, a two-unit condominium complex in Phoenix, Arizona, three ranch houses located outside of Sedona, Arizona, a high-rise condo in Arlington, Virginia, a rental loft, and, according to GQ, a loft they bought for their daughter, Meghan.

In recent weeks, Democrats have stepped up their effort to caricature McCain as living an outlandishly rich lifestyle — a bit of payback to the GOP for portraying Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) as an elitist, and for turning the spotlight in 2004 on the five homes owned by Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.) and his wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry.

Pro-Obama labor groups have sent out mailers highlighting McCain’s wealth, and prominent Democrats have included references to it in comments to reporters.

Twice in the past two weeks, those Democrats have focused on McCain’s houses.

Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) told Politico’s Ben Smith that it was McCain “who wears $500 shoes, has six houses and comes from one of the richest families in his state.”

And David Axelrod, Obama’s chief strategist, referred in an interview with Adam Nagourney of The New York Times to an imagined meeting of McCain strategists “on the portico of the McCain estate in Sedona — or maybe in one of his six other houses.”

Mccain called Obama an elitist what a joke!

I think everyone knows who the elitist is now.

Are you mad because John McCain has more money than you?

  2. Michelle S Says:

I just dont understand the rich attack. Is being rich meant to insult people. I beleive Obama is fairly rich as well, he did write 2 books, and one was a best seller. Do you think he is poor, and drives a ford Grenada?

  3. hookem_hornz Says:

    Yes he is.

Is Obama a Muslim Flavor Flav?

  4. whip Says:

he wears adidas and timberland boots. another liberal lie.

  5. Omooba44 Says:

what if he is! We need to know about Obama’s spending habits too,
I only hope he is not a cheapskate.

  6. sassysuzy Says:

I’d bet that McCain has fewer homes than people Axelrod has had killed in order to protect Obama.

Donald Young and Larry Bland are the two we know about.

BO spends his money sending Axelrod out to blackmail and bribe hundreds to do BO’s bidding.

  7. Chuck G Says:

No, Richie Rich had a lot more money.

McCain opens up his home to the less fortunate, he adopted a handicapped child. Obama hasn’t done anything of the sort, though he has millions. He wouldn’t even take care of his own brother living in poverty on $1 a month! And how did Obama acquire his house? Through a criminal?

  9. Lou G Says:

Is there a question in there somewhere?

I mean, other than the poor attempt at humor in your headline?

Please. McCain owns real estate. In America.

    Is that a crime?

Is it evil to succeed in this country now?

Is that how you want it to be?

Owning realty isn’t elitist. Telling your rich friends ‘in private’ that middle class America clings to guns and religion out of fear is elitist.

At least McCain didn’t do a dirty deal with a convicted felon to get his property. The Obama camp should just clam up on this one or that whole Tony Resko deal is going to blow up in their smug faces.

    Wait….on second thought…keep going, Obamaniacs….keep going.

PS: Just saw your footnotes after posting. Do you own a dictionary? Can you read it? Maybe you should look up the definition of elitism before you spew your opinions.

Again, and I’ll type s-l-o-w-l-y so that you might keep up: owning real estate is not an elitist act.

  10. Zia_Siddiqi Says:

Duh. Ofcourse McCain is an elitist.

  11. connor Says:

Don’t forget his upper-crust upbringing: father and grandfather admirals.

Nothing wrong with that, but it sure ain’t representative of the common folk now is it?

On the other hand, being raised by a single mother and then by one’s grandparents — in Kansas — that sure isn’t what I’d label as elitist.

On the other hand, graduating 4th from the bottom in a class of almost 500 vs. being at the top of your class at Harvard…OK, Obama is an intellectual elitist. Who the heck wants a smart president after all, much less someone who thinks about setting a good example by being conscious of his diet, thinking before he speaks and explaning his reasoning afterward.

I just want to puke when cons defend McCain by saying stuff like “good for McCain, hard work pays off, etc., etc., etc.,”

News flash to cons. McCain didn’t get his loot through hard work. He married it. Cindy didn’t get her loot through hard work, either. She inherited it.

And of course, the charming thing is that those are the same cons who in 2004 crucified Kerry for having a ton of money

Just makes me want to puke.

  13. mr_cj_jr Says:

Nah, Richie Rich was a NICE little rich kid!

  14. David S Says:

I don’t know. Has Obama ever attended an average school?

  15. S V Says:
