I would like to post the video on MySpace, YouTube, and send a mass email out to my business friends, personal friends, and family asking them to forward the video email to anyone they know getting married warning them not to use this DJ service. Everything on the video speaks for itself. Can I be slapped with a defamation lawsuit?
I had a terrible DJ for my June 14th Wedding and have the video of how terrible the ceremony and reception?

As a dissatisfied customer, you have the right to give your opinion to others. However, don’t try to damage the DJ’s business out of spite or you’ll be crossing the line. Just show your video and let others decide for themselves.

No you can’t be slapped with anything. You paid for the service…that is called a bailment for hire. The DJ was supposed to satisfy you in return for your money.
He didn’t satisfy you and you have the proof–the video. You can show his work anywhere at any time and let your opinion be known. What is he going to do? Sue you because his lousy performance made you angry?
Just make sure to put the You Tube Link in your answer so we can all see it!

Confucious say:
When setting out on revenge,
first dig two graves.
I’m really sorry to hear that you had such a bad experience. A wedding is an emotionally significant event and everyone wants it to go well.
Communicating your dissatisfaction to others is perfectly reasonable. However the kind of broadcast ’slam’ that you’re talking about invites trouble. Even if the DJ doesn’t do anything, you’re likely to get a lot of flames back about ’sour grapes’ which only pours salt in the wound. You’re already hurt and angry, don’t invite that on yourself.
