Stipulate in the options to only receive emails from a list of senders. Then list all the important emails of the people who matter in the space provided (most likely its set up for one email per line, so just push return after each email). You will have to make sure to update this list as needed, and remember that you won’t see anything from people who aren’t there.
That’s the drastic measure. What I do is I have two separate emails. One for doing stuff online, like if I want to register for a website and they ask for an email address to send a confirmation email to. Then I give them my crap email address, log in long enough to reply to their email in order to activate my account, then ignore that email address, and all the spam sent, until I need it again. Then I have my important email address that I don’t give out to any companies or websites, one that only my friends and family can use, and I can trust to only have important messages. You have to be consistent, though, let out the private email address once, and it can ruin the spam free zone permanently.
Hope that helps!

According to the anti-spam experts, we are seeing far more spam mails now than ever before. And the spammers are more clever about defeating the spam filters. That’s why more spam is making it to the Inbox instead of going straight to the Bulk folder. There are a few basic things we can all do to keep spam to a minimum…
1. Spam mails that go straight to Bulk should be left there (and emptied occasionally if you want). But they should NEVER be opened.
2. Spam mails that land in your Inbox should be marked as Spam so that they are moved to Bulk and placed on the Blocked list (blocking that address so you don’t receive any more mails from them).
3. Any email that you are the least bit suspicious about should be deleted immediately. Don’t let curiosity get the better of you. Simply by opening a spam email, you could be alerting the spammers that you have an active email address (they probably didn’t know it before), to which they will most certainly send TONS of spam mail in the future.

The only thing i can think of is to start a new account, the same way you made your original.
1) write down all the adresses from your adress book
2) make a new email adress
3) make sure to email all of your friends giving your new adress
4)try not to give out your new email adress to gamers and games or “You have WON a FREE IPOD!!!” type of things
Dont use your old adress for a long time and it will delete itself
