Most of the spam I get is from overseas. As I have virtually no use for overseas mail I’d like to block the IP addresses for the countries I’m receiving mail from. To do this I need a list of netblocks (i.e., blocks of IP addresses, e.g. 16.150.0.0/14) assigned to all countries and/or regions. Even if there aren’t, I can analyze my existing spam and choose key areas to block. Where can I get such a list?

(N.B. I am not looking for sites that allow you to look up individual IP addresses, such as whois. I am aware that whois will provide limited netblock information, e.g. an ISP’s netblock, but it is too limited for me. I want to banish Asia in one fell swoop. Ok, maybe a few fell swoops.)

P.S. If anyone knows of software that can analyze a bunch of spam and produce a map or report on which countries or networks are most implicated, that would be cool to know about.

I work for a legitimate company and I wanted to know if anyone has used Dreamweaver to create and send HTML emails, and more specifically, if anyone has been able to use a mass emailer functionality with Dreamweaver. These mass emails wouldn’t actually be that ‘massive’ of a list as the emails would be sent to current clients. If anyone knows of this functionality in Dreamweaver or has used it before please let me know your thoughts.

The list is just ascending lines of text.
i.e.

Business Name
Address
City, State Zip
Phone
Business Description
< space >
Business Name 2
Address
City, State Zip
Phone
Business Description
< space >

And I want to extract this data and automatically put it into an Excel file where each business is in a separate row.
Columns would be:
Business - Address - City - Phone - Description

I prefer that the software be free. I have MS Office 2003 and know Excel pretty well, but not well enough to do this.
(I can copy and paste the business address listings into Excel, but they are not formatted the way I want). I thought about using a macro, but wasn’t able to get this to work.
Thanks!!!

I entered one with this article

http://www.marketingpilgrim.com/2007/04/so-you-wanna-be-a-search-marketer.html

My email box is floaded with negative feedback from my fellow SEO peers, saying it was not “professional” of me.

I just don’t see the negative, maybe I am missing something?

I opened an independent insurance agency in Kentucky recently. I hired a licensed producer to help me solicit auto, home & life insurance. I also hired a tele-marketer to call leads for new business.
With a limited budget, how could I attract more people to call us for free insurance quotes? We represent the biggest and best insurance companies for auto, home and life insurance.
Our rates are crazy-competitive for Kentucky residents…we just need to find a way (despite the cold weather) to get people to call or email us for free quotes.
We are legally able to quote insurance for any resident in Kentucky. We will have a website up and running in the next few months…as soon as we find someone to help us create a solid site.
As for advertising, we haven’t started any system yet. We know our stuff when it comes to insurance…just need ideas to grow our client base quickly.
Thanks for any ideas…

I got this email, and a few others, in my school email address. I don’t know whether it’s real or not because things do exist like this…Like today in class we filled out a survey on an ad a company was going to run after researching how it affected people. (Although we did not get paid for that one, we just get extra credit for the class it was in)

Also, my roomie has been getting some emails too. We are both in the Recording Industry program which is part of Mass Communications so advertising IS an area close to our area.

Here’s exactly what the email says…

“Dear Kody,

I would like to offer you a challenging and well-paid employment opportunity. An International Marketing Research Organization recruits self-motivated and reliable individuals, willing to take part in well-paying research studies conducted for leading US and international businesses. Your opinion as a consumer is important for the success and profitability of many business ventures. That is why they are ready to pay generously for what you think.

You can earn from $300 to $550 a week for participating in online surveys, focus group discussions, and product/service evaluations. Become part of our Marketing Research Organization and earn:

from $5 to $100 for participating in on-line surveys
from $30 to $150 for participating in product/service evaluations
from $50 to $250 for participating in virtual focus group discussions

For your work, you will need just a computer with Internet connection and a valid e-mail address. You will decide when to work and which surveys to take while enjoying the comfort of your room. If you like the job, you can keep it as long as you want!

If you want to become one of our survey takers, please write back and I will send you more information.

Sincerely,
Carla Baker ”

I looked to see if “Carla Baker” went to MTSU (the school I go to) and she isn’t in the system…Not that that means a lot..but still lol.

What’s your opinion on it? Thanks for your answers!
*UPDATE*
I posted this question a few minutes after I read the last email (the one I posted) and I still have no reply. I guess I’ll wait a few days and see if they ever reply. If not I guess it is a scam. Although, like one answer said…it does take time so they would be willing to pay a little at least. lol. So who knows, thanks for answering though!
*UPDATE #2*

Some girl was standing in the middle of a courtyard thing with a sign mentioning doing surveys, and was being recording. I think it was for the MTSU tv channel….But I still have not heard anything from the person who emailed me.

We have never used mass email marketing before but are giving it very serious consideration now. We can get a company to do it for us or we can simply buy databases and an application and do it ourselves. But we’re wondering whether our ISP might get a bit annoyed if we send out millions of emails? Thanks
The application enables us to bypass our ISP’s SMTP server (if that helps?!)

I am trying to find where I can get a hold of them. I need an email address, mailing address, or even a phone number.
